Michael Law
Michael’s childhood was tough. Michael was surrounded by poverty, and it was difficult for him to imagine anything else. Despite his mothers best efforts, she struggled to make ends meet, working three jobs just to provide food, shelter, and clothing for the family.
His mother was determined to keep her sons from succumbing to a poverty mindset. He didn’t realize it then, but this early lesson in self-presentation would become crucial in shaping his future.
In high school, Michael was an athlete and didn’t see the point of reading. He thought books were for “nerds, and losers.” One day, a friend made a suggestion that would change his life forever: “Start by picking the smallest book you can find on your favorite topic.” Michael took this advice and went to the library to check out “Heart Over Height” by NBA veteran Nate Robinson. As he read the book, he began to compare its lessons to his own life and the work ethic he saw his mother had.
